Although, we would all like to believe that no one will ever lie to us we know the reality paints a different story. Anyone who has joined the thousands on the internet trying their hands at dating online can tell you that people lie on these sites all the time. Sadly, there is not one trustworthy online dating guide that will direct you to a site which will guarantee you that people you meet there have not lied on their application.
You follow all the step – you look over the profile and adhere to the online dating advice you read in the dating e-book. You look over his personal information because you want a man at least 6′ since you are 5’8″. You notice that he claims a stature of 6’4″ so you get excited as this sounds pretty darn near perfect to you! So, you show up, wearing heels, expecting to find a man who is a good 6 inches taller than you, and yet, there you are, looking down at this stranger for the first time from your new stature of 5’11 to his “old” one of 5’10″.
If, when you start planning your first date, your prospective date begins to dwell on certain aspects of your life such as “do you actually work out four times a week?” be sure to ask a few more questions before proceeding. Men have been known to simply be impressed when a woman works out. These men look forward to enjoying a workout together. However, more times than not, there is a very good chance that the man on the phone is seriously wondering if this is it for him! He’s asking himself whether he should just confess that he hasn’t been inside a gym in over ten years! But for some reason he doesn’t and you end up meeting for dinner.
You might find yourself on a date where you arrive at the designated meeting place expecting someone resembling Will Smith and you end up across from somebody that more closely resembles Fat Albert. What to do? Continue to talk to him as if nothing is wrong since you enjoyed conversing with the man you were getting to know on the phone to see where the evening ends up; or call him out on his apparent deception and get rid of the white elephant before you take one more step.
You should make it a habit to question any picture that is taken at a strange angle and/or any man who only has one picture on his profile and it appears to be of a younger man than his age would imply on his profile. These are usually used by men who have something to hide. Women stated that the most common situation they found themselves in while internet dating was the men were easily ten to fifteen years older than their pictures!
