More Gothics Have Found Each Other Online Than You Know

More Gothics have found each other online than anywhere else. If you are someone who identifies as a Goth, chances are you have felt alienated in some way from the social scene around you. You may have had trouble at school. You may have been bullied, ridiculed, or ignored by some of your peers. Your family may not understand why you dress the way you do and listen to the music you listen to.

Your feelings of isolation and your past experiences may have made it difficult for you to date in the traditional way, or even to make friends. People in the mainstream often meet each other in bars or clubs. But for you, the idea of grinding the night away with a stranger to the sounds of Beyonce’ sounds like torture, and not the good kind. Mainstream bars, with their vapid, soulless inhabitants, are the last place that you want to be.

If you live in a city, or a larger town, there might be a Goth club or two around, and there might be some places you can go to meet other people like you. But in many suburbs and small towns, the closest thing to a real Goth hangout is the Hot Topic in the local mall. This can make it feel impossible to find someone who truly gets it, who is neither mainstream nor a poser.

Are you looking for someone you can drive around with on a rainy night, listening to The Cure and Bauhaus? Someone who finds your facial piercings and heavy eyeliner irresistible? Maybe you’re looking for someone who shares your passion for leather, and who is open to experimenting with bondage and domination.

With online dating, you can say exactly what you are looking for. On a regular dating site, you can let people know up front what you are into. You can post a picture of yourself dressed as elaborately as you want, so that they know exactly what to expect. There are also specific Gothic dating sites, where you would be able to look through pictures of hundreds of dark princes and princesses.

The people around you may be vapid and devoid of souls, but there are plenty of other people in the world. There is someone out there who shares your boredom and anger at the meaninglessness of the modern existence.

The internet makes dating much easier for Goths. You are not as alone or isolated as you might think. More Gothics have found each other online than you would guess. You perfect Goth lover is waiting for you. Find them today!

Mark De Schutter is the webmaster of a Gothic dating webplace called “Gothiclovers.com”. So if you are searching for a soulmate or friends who are into the more alternative way of life, this is the place for you.
