Why would Christian wives advertise themselves on an online dating service?

online christian dating
Orion asked:

From time to time I’ve visited a well-known, popular online dating site (hope endures).

Each time I’ve been surprised to find so many women listing themselves as “attached christians”. Given the ages (30s-late 40s) I’d have to assume these are not just boyfriend/girlfriend types of attachment.

What is even more interesting is when they describe themselves as “honest, loyal and trustworthy”.

Now I suppose this might not be too bad if they were seeking christian men for bible study.

But bible study doesn’t seem to be amongst the activities they’re seeking.

Indeed, the activities they seek would probably be best found with a male of a different faith.

Say a Pagan man.

Now even this might not be so bad if we were talking of just one or two. But there are nearly 100 of them in my local area alone.

And there are more bears than people here.

(O.o)(o.O)

Would you care to explain this phenomena?
Bear in mind that maybe their interpretation of scripture allows them to do that.

Christians disagree over so many things ;-)

Because obviously extra-Martial affairs do not harm the sanctity of marriage, *** marriage does that. ;)
Also, I think anyone who has an affair with someone that they know is married will get exactly what they deserve. I can’t believe how many mistresses are shocked when their man turns around and cheats on them.

Sounds like they’re not getting enough of the good stuff at home…I wonder why these Christian men aren’t satisfying them, lol.

If what you say is true, then they’re really not Christians, now are they?

I don’t know – I don’t list myself.

Polls I understand (I have only my pastors word for it) have generaly in the west revealed that an approx 75 to 85% of the population claim to be Christian. Very few (in the region of 5 to 10%) are truely born again.

In my experience people often use the term to distinguish themselves culturally rather than spiritually. In this case I’d suggest the term is being used to make themselves more attractive, a rather transparent marketing ploy in my opinion.
